Top 10 Reasons Why TV Wasn't So Bad This Year:

No. 10 The Practice Joins ABC's fall season
No. 9 Ellen comes out - finally
No. 8 Bad shows put out to pasture
No. 7 King Of The Hill
No. 6 Chris Rock (in reference to his HBO special)
No. 5 Xena: Warrior Princess
No. 4 Larry Sanders
Nos. 3, 2 and 1: Buffy, Buffy and more Buffy

I've already gushed about how cool this WB show - an artful mix of My So-Called Life, Heathers and Dracula - can be, so I'll try to keep it short. But what else can you say about Buffy The Vampire Slayer, a program that dares make a hero of a cheer-leader-turned-super-strong-ghoul-killer who vacillates between going to her high school prom and killing the most evil vampire who ever lived? Buoyed by a fresh - faced cast that artfully manages teenage sarcasm without being tiresome (Janeane Garofalo, are you listening?). Buffy is so good, it's a shame the show has been consigned to the low - rated depths of WB. But if she can rid the world of vampires, it should be a snap to find a higher-profile home.
